Well Data, Why It Pays Big To “Get It Right”

We recently did a well test for a house on the market.  The realtor listed the house as having a 5 GPM well. The well log recorded the production as being 0.5 GPM (a coincidence not a typo).  The well test placed production at 0.17 GPM. Being the buyer made an offer to buy the property with a 5 GPM well, he had every right to back out of or renegotiate the contract.  If the buyer decides to proceed with purchasing the property he’ll most likely demand a steep reduction in the asking price. If the well had been listed correctly as 0.5 GPM instead of 5.0 GPM the buyer’s bargaining chips may not be as stalwart. This is the problem with using data from the State’s website. This website contains a lot of errors. If it’s crucial, don’t rely on the figures shown on this website.  As I have mentioned, the only place to find well production is on the drillers log/well construction and test report (GWS 31).                           — David Nequette
